Sharon Pendergast, RETIRED
MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

With over 30 years of broad experience, Ms. Pendergast feels well qualified to assist you with the issues in your life. Clients often come to see her when they've reached a developmental hurdle that they're having difficulty getting over or around. She sees clients who range in age from 2 to 82 in individual, couples and family therapy. She also provides EAP sessions and does Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

Her approach is based on the needs of the individual and may include family systems, cognitive behavioral, developmental, and/or psychodynamic methods. Ms Pendergast's areas of interest include life transitions, parenting, loss, mourning and depression, relationships, women's issues, and sexual functioning. She also works with clients diagnosed as bi-polar, ADHD or with general anxiety disorder.

Ms. Pendergast graduated from the University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!) in 1976 with a Master's degree in Social Work. She then did a one-year fellowship in Psychiatric Social Work at the Menninger Clinic. Subsequently she was employed there for 17 years and for the last eight years of her employment, she was chief social worker in their community outpatient clinic. She was on the faculty of the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry where she was a lecturer, teacher and supervisor of residents, child psychiatry fellows and social work fellows and students. During her employment at Menninger she completed a 3-year training program in family therapy and a two-year program in individual therapy.
